Lorik Cana made his first Marseille start since recovering from injury in Week 27’s goalless draw at home to Valenciennes. The Albanian international’s timely return comes ahead of a big Uefa Cup tie and a return to his old club Paris Saint-Germain.

“My knee felt good. My hopes are that all of our injured players get back to full fitness at the same time, especially Mamadou Niang, who for me is our most vital weapon.”

The midfielder added: “It’s frustrating. We’re missing chances and that has put our backs to the wall now. Paradoxically now we’re having trouble scoring, whereas before our problem was conceding too many.”
