In a recent interview given to Portuguese outlet O Jogo, Joao Cancelo has revealed that returning to Manchester City at the end of the season, when his loan with Bayern Munich comes to its end, is still an option.
Cancelo reportedly fell out with City boss Pep Guardiola through the weeks leading up to the opening of the January transfer window, with numerous sources believing that to have been the reason for his rather surprising departure from the Etihad on a temporary basis. Bayern have the option to make the deal permanent in the summer for €70million, but even though there have been suggestions that it could get done for significantly less than that, it seems the 28-year-old fullback hasn’t quite closed the door on playing for the Premier League champions again.
Cancelo spoke at length about his excellent relationship with his international teammate, City midfielder Bernardo Silva, and mentioned even defender Ruben Dias in that aspect.
“A spectacular group, I would go to training with great enthusiasm,” Cancelo said.
“Everything in life has an end. But at the end of the season I might even return, you never know.”
