Juventus defender Fabio Cannavaro doesn`t regret his decision to leave Real Madrid this summer and return to Italy, to play for Juventus.
The 36-year-old said that he could have stayed at Madrid but that he preferred a free transfer to Juventus, after his deal with Real expired.
`Real Madrid? I don’t have any nostalgia or bitterness,` Cannavaro told Tuttosport.
`I could have waited for the election of the president (Florentino Perez) and discuss a new deal, but as soon as Juve came along I couldn’t hesitate.`
The veteran defender believes he can achieve great things with his new club, Juventus.
`We have a great group here and we want to win and give spectacle with our champions.`
Cannavaro and his new club enjoyed a perfect start of the competition by gaining nine points out of the first three matches.
On Saturday they defeated Lazio in Rome (2-0) and tomorrow they will clash with French champions Bordeaux to open the new Champions League season.
Bordeaux coach Laurent Blanc isn’t a stranger to Italy captain Cannavaro. He knows the Frenchman as they were team-mates for one season at Napoli.
`He is a great coach. He took some slack in Italy, but I think it served him for the experience,” concluded the strong defender.
