Cannavaro open to Napoli return

Italy captain and Real Madrid ace Fabio Cannavaro has again revealed that he could make a return to his hometown club Napoli.

“I’m a Napoli fan and always have been,” he said. “It would be nice to play for them again.

“I am well aware that the club are working excellently by focusing on young players and their current squad so it is just best for them to work in peace for now.”

Cannavaro’s contract with Real Madrid expires at the end of the season. Cannavaro started his career with Napoli and made his Serie A debut against Juventus as a 19-year-old.

“I remember everything about my first spell at Napoli, from my very first game to the last,” continued Cannavaro.

“They were incredible years for me because as a kid wearing the Napoli shirt was always the dream which I had.”
