Cannavaro praises Becks

Real Madrid star Fabio Cannavaro is confident David Beckham will be a success in the Serie A.

The Los Angeles Galaxy star looks set to join AC Milan on loan from January until March, when the MLS season kicks off.

Beckham’s former Real Madrid teammate told the Gazzetta dello Sport: “David is incredible. I remember one night we arrived by train in Seville.

“At the station there were girls vaulting the gates to get a hug off him. It was like hanging around with The Beatles! I hadn’t seen anything like it, not even when Maradona was at Napoli.”

He added: “Those who say David is all style and no substance are making a big mistake.

“I will remind them that, if we won the Liga title two years ago, 80 per cent of the credit goes to Beckham.

“From the moment he returned to the side after being frozen out, he was simply extraordinary.”
