Benfica left-back Joan Capdevila is set to leave the Portuguese club in January, agent Horacio Gaggioli has revealed.
The Spain international moved to the Estadio da Luz on a free transfer in the off-season, hoping to fill the void left by Fabio Coentrao’s departure to Real Madrid.
But the former Villarreal and Deportiva La Coruna full-back has found himself behind Emerson in the club’s pecking order, and was not even registered for Benfica’s Champions League group stage campaign.
With only two official appearances under his belt this season, Capdevila’s agent said he is already looking to find a new club for the 33-year-old.
“We are working to solve the issue about Capdevila’s transfer,” Gaggioli told Radio Renascenca. “There is nothing concrete yet.”
“The player is unhappy, but that is just life.”
Capdevila’s representative revealed in September had been approached by Juventus and other clubs for the player.
