(GSM) – England boss Fabio Capello’s World Cup plans have suffered a serious blow with the confirmation that Ashley Cole will be sidelined for three months with an ankle fracture.

Cole’s World Cup dream was seriously threatened by a broken left ankle last night.

“It’s bad news for me because he is an important player,” said Capello.

“Ashley is very good when we defend and good going forward. He is really dangerous and I hope this problem will be not so bad.”

The disaster could not have come at a worse moment for Capello, who must now decide whether he can risk playing Cole’s natural replacement, Manchester City fullback Wayne Bridge, alongside ex-England skipper John Terry.
