England manager Fabio Capello has banned England players from eating chips and tomato ketchup. He is a strong advocate of a healthy diet being an essential ingredient of being a successful footballer.

This is indicative of the way football in England has gone and the days of eating steak and chips before a game and then having a few pints straight afterwards have long gone.

Not all English managers are quite as sold on new ideas as some though. New Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp was asked whether a change in diet had contributed to Tottenham’s amazing performances since he took over.

He replied: “If you can’t pass the ball properly, a bowl of pasta’s not going to make that much difference!”

Love it!
