(GSM) – England manager Fabio Capello believes David Beckham is a role model for an England player. Capello stated that Beckham’s love for his country can prove decisive at the World Cup finals.
Beckham is set for a coaching role after an Achilles injury ruled him out from playing at the World Cup. Capello believes Beckham’s spirit and his ‘love for the shirt’ has forced Capello to keep the 35-year-old present with the rest of the squad.
“David played a short time in a lot of games for me,” added Capello.
“He could have gone on holiday or stayed at home with his family but he preferred to be with us. That is the reason why I always selected him.
“He is a role model. There was no obligation to stay with us but he always did. That was really important. He has a love for the shirt.”
Beckham is England’s most-capped player with 115 international appearances.
