(GSM) – Fabio Capello has announced a much-changed squad for the friendly match against France on Wednesday.
Cardiff City striker Jay Bothroyd’s inclusion is a major surprise as the 28-year-old plays in the Championship. Meanwhile Christopher Smalling is another surprise selection as the defender has struggled to break into Manchester United’s first-team.
Other new faces include Newcastle United’s Andrew Carroll and Sunderland’s Jordan Henderson, but both players were tipped to join the new-look squad.
Capello revealed his intention to include new players for the friendly clash in order to test some faces as he looks to bounce back in the European Championship qualifiers following a draw against Montenegro.
