Fabio Capello has named a strong England squad to face the Netherlands in a friendly at Wembley on Wednesday.
The Italian’s 25-man selection features a combined 11 players from Manchester United and City, who face off in the Community Shield on Sunday, just three days prior to the clash.
Manchester United forward Danny Welbeck has earned another call-up after featuring in the squad that faced Ghana in a 1-1 draw in March, while Liverpool striker Andy Carroll’s fledgling international career continues.
City defender Micah Richards returns to the England fold as Liverpool’s Glen Johnson is ruled out with an injury, and Kyle Walker – who impressed in Tottenham’s friendly victory over Athletic Bilbao on Saturday – is also in the squad.
West Ham’s Scott Parker is involved despite dropping into the Championship with West Ham following last season’s relegation.
