(GSM) – Universidad de Chile took a giant step toward advancing in the Copa Libertadores on Tuesday as their 3-1 win over Caracas eliminated the Venezuelans.
Mauricio Victorino fired the Chileans in front in the 18th minute to subdue the crowd in Caracas, and it was 2-0 to the visitors just past the half-hour when Juan Olivera hit from the spot.
In the 35th minute, it got worse for Caracas when Matías Rodríguez extended the lead to 3-0 for Universidad.
Alejandro Guerra’s red card in the 67th minute reduced Caracas to 10 men, though they did pull a goal back in the 76th minute through César González.
Universidad de Chile now sit atop Group 8 on 11 points.
