Cardiff City have accepted a bid of £8m from Queens Park Rangers for defender and club captain Steven Caulker, the Mirror understands.
The newly promoted Premier League side have triggered a release clause in the 22 year old’s contract and are keen to partner him with veteran centre-back Rio Ferdinand, though a deal for the latter is far from being finalised due to wage issues.
Caulker and Hoops boss Harry Redknapp worked together at Tottenham Hotspur, and the pair look set to be reunited though a host of other clubs are keen to hijack the bid.
Liverpool, Arsenal, Crystal Palace and Spurs themselves are all monitoring the situation of the one-time England international, who was overlooked by Three Lions’ boss Roy Hodgson for his squad for this summer’s World Cup finals in Brazil, despite his impressive domestic form.
The former Swansea City loanee was an ever present for the Bluebirds in the league last season, scoring five goals in the process but was unable to help them avoid relegation.
