The Mail Online understands that Championship side Cardiff City are keen on signing Celtic striker Anthony Stokes when the transfer window reopens next month.
The 26 year old only put pen to paper on a new three year deal with the Scottish champions in October, but has emerged as a target for the South Wales side who are looking to secure an immediate return to the Premier League following their relegation back in May.
Stokes has previously played for Sunderland and had loan spells with Sheffield United and Crystal Palace in the English leagues having begun his career with Arsenal, though he barely featured for the Gunners playing just two minutes of first team football for them before moving north of the border in a loan spell with Falkirk.
Fore Celtic, he has scored seventy-five goals in one hundred and seventy-six appearances in all competitions, winning three league titles and two Scottish cups along the way.
Cardiff’s draw with Rotherham United on Saturday kept them in ninth place, leaving them just two points off the play-off positions and they can now be backed at 15/2 to achieve promotion.
