The in-demand Cardiff star Aaron Ramsey has told the club that he wants to join Arsenal over Manchester United and Everton, according to Cardiff City’s official website.
The midfielder made his choice after visiting all three clubs and was said to be particularly impressed by Arsenal. Ramsey was flown out to Switzerland so that the teenager could meet Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger in person.
Cardiff FC’s website also reveals that unlike the other deals offered, Arsenal’s deal does not include a loan period back at Ninian Park for Ramsey, suggesting that Ramsey could possibly feature in Wenger’s first-team plans next season.
The official statement read: “Cardiff City were informed on Friday morning that Aaron Ramsey’s preferred destination this summer is at Emirates Stadium with Arsenal.”
“We will now continue the dialogue with the Gunners with a view to Aaron’s move being completed.”
“The move unlike other options, however, does not include a loan back period at Ninian Park for the 2008/09 season.”
Ramsey, 17, became the subject of major transfer speculation after an impressive finish to the season and his appearances in Cardiff’s FA Cup run only helped his chances of becoming noticed.
Cardiff FC were hoping to persuade the buying club to offer back Ramsey on a year-long loan deal, which Manchester United were prepared to offer. However, it now seems that Ramsey’s destination is the Emirates stadium, where the star will look to break through into the first-team.
