The agent of Benfica striker Oscar Cardozo has confirmed reports linking his client with a summer move to Barcelona.
El Mundo Deportivo yesterday suggested that the Paraguayan was one of the players the Catalans are looking at as they search for a new number nine.
Cardozo’s official representative Pedro Aldave has now moved to confirm there may be some truth in the transfer speculations.
“Barca do not have a number 9 and is, therefore, looking to sign such a player when the (current) championship ends. It is a hypothesis,” Aldave told Futbol a lo grande, a programme on Radio 780 AM.
Oscar Cardozo was expected to leave the club this summer after clashing with boss Jorge Jesus at the end of last season, and he was on the verge of joining Fenerbahce.
However, after the move to Turkey fell through, the Paraguayan returned to the side and has already scored 3 league goals this season.
Benfica haven’t had such a good start to the new league campaign, and they currently sit five points adrift of arch rivals FC Porto.
