Cardozo future at Benfica still unclear

According to his agent, Oscar Cardozo could still leave Benfica in the transfer window, Talk Sport reports.

Cardozo’s future has been in some doubt over much of summer and English Premier League clubs Chelsea and Everton both seem keen on signing the attacker.

He has been fantastic for the Portuguese side over the last few seasons and has scored a very impressive 89 goals in 107 league appearances.

The 29-year-old has also started this campaign in the perfect way – finding the net in the 2-2 draw against Sporting Braga in the opening fixture of Portugal’s top flight.

The Paraguay international’s agent has now hinted that he may not be playing for Benfica come the end of the month though.

He said: “Today I say that there is no news, but by the end of the month anything can happen”

Jorge Jesus is sure to do all he can to keep his star man at the club and it is likely that it will take a big offer to secure his services.

Both Chelsea and Everton seem interested in adding to their attacking options for the new season but know that they do not have much time to act.

This statement from the player’s representative could see them make an offer to Benfica during the week and a deal could be done quickly.
