Marca has learned that Barcelona captain Carles Puyol is exploring the possibility of moving to the MLS at the end of the season.
The 35-year-old has more than two years left on his deal at Camp Nou, but he is aware that his first team chances at the club are becoming severely limited.
He, therefore, plans to leave the Catalans at the end of the current campaign, with MLS his most likely destination.
According to Marca, his representatives have been contacted by New York Red Bulls and New York City FC, although there is nothing concrete just yet.
Carles Puyol has been a loyal servant to the club having been at Camp Nou since 1995, and he went on to make 391 league appearances for the club, scoring 11 goals.
However, he has featured in just 17 league matches over the last two seasons, which is enough to suggest he is no longer in the first team plans of boss Tata Martino.
