Carlitos makes Hannover switch

Hannover 96 have signed Portuguese midfielder Carlitos on a free transfer from Basel.

The 27-year-old spent last three years in Basel, during which he scored 11 goals in 76 games. He will sign a two-year contract with the Bundesliga outfit.

Sporting director Jorg Schmadtke believes the club have signed a very good player.

“We have been observing him for quite a while. He is a two-footed player, who can be used on both wings, as well as in the centre of the park. The transfer also serves as a perfect use of our economic opportunities.”

Carlitos will be officially unveiled on Tuesday and the club also revealed the midfielder would wear a number 12 shirt for the following season.
