Market: Carlo Ancelotti to be next Chelsea manager
Odds: 3/10 @ William Hill
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is on the brink at Stamford Bridge with results continuing to spiral, and reports are suggesting the hierarchy are planning his replacement. Free agent Carlo Ancelotti is the favourite to take over, with the Italian having won a league title in his first stint at Chelsea, and movement could be made in the coming weeks.
Owner Roman Abramovich is said to be preparing Mourinho’s large compensation package, while Ancelotti remains available after taking a break following his departure from Real Madrid. Supporters would welcome the 56-year-old back, and Ancelotti has been spotted around London recently, fuelling the rumours that he will be replacing Mourinho.
He’s not the only manager in the frame for the Chelsea job, however. Atletico Madrid’s Diego Simeone, Bayern Munich manager Pep Guardiola and even former Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers have been linked, but there won’t be much movement made until Mourinho is shown the exit door.
Nevertheless, Carlo Ancelotti is 3/1 with William Hill to become the next permanent Chelsea manager. He’s said to have held talks with the club, and it’s expected he will be the man to replace Mourinho this season.
