What a terrible start of the season for Atlanta United. The whole of Major League Soccer was left shocked when their biggest start and key player Josef Martinez suffered an ACL injury in the season opener. The match that Atlanta won 2-1 against league newcomers Nashville last Sunday was left in the shadow of a big, serious injury, that will see the Venezuelan miss the entire season.
Now, in order to replace the 33-year-old goalscoring machine, Atlanta must react quickly to find solutions. One of those could be Villarreal striker Carlos Bacca. The striker has emerged as Atlanta’s transfer target, according to a report from Marca.
Bacca has scored four goals in 16 appearances across all competitions for the Yellow Submarine this season and could be an interesting solution for MLS side. Atlanta need someone to come in quickly and Bacca could be the player Villarreal could let go in some scenario.
