Argentine striker Carlos Tevez has reached an agreement with his club Shanghai Shenhua to quit the Chinese Super League and return to his hometown club Boca Juniors. Again.
The highest-paid players in the Chinese Super League has endured a disastrous year with his club which saw him pick up a calf injury earlier in the summer and get excluded from Shenhua’s Chinese FA Cup final.
The 33-year-old former Manchester United, City and Juventus striker made only 16 league appearances in 2017 and scored just four goals.
Argentine media outlet Clair Deportes reports that Tevez’s agents have now reached an agreement with Shanghai Shenhua that would see the experienced striker move back to Boca Juniors.
Boca Juniors are expected to fork out $3 million – which is half the sum written as Tevez’s contract cancelation clause – while the second half of the full amount will be paid by the player himself who is on a $20 million a year deal in China.
Tevez is set to re-join his former club for a preseason training in Buenos Aires early next week.
