Liverpool veteran Jamie Carragher says he is convinced captain Steven Gerrard will end his career at Anfield.
The club icon has just over a year left on his current deal and club officials are set to open talks over a two-year extension.
It remains to be seen whether Gerrard will be interested in a contract extension, but Jamie Carragher, who is set to retire at the end of the current campaign, has no doubts the 32-year-old is going to extend.
“I’m sure Stevie will sign a contract and finish his career at Liverpool the way I’ve done,” Carragher was quoted as saying by Sky Sports.
“There is no doubt about that. I’m sure he’ll sit down and sort it out in the next couple of months. Steve will be finishing his career at Liverpool. He is ‘captain fantastic’ every week.”
In spite of some lucrative offers from abroad, Steven Gerrard has resisted temptation to leave Anfield and it appears he will follow Carragher’s example and end his playing days at Liverpool.
By doing so he will probably damage his chances of winning his first Premier League title, although he will be hoping to turn the Reds into genuine title contenders before he retires.
