(GSM) – Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher will return to national duty and will be part of England’s World Cup squad that travels to South Africa, according to BBC Sport.
The 32-year-old, capable of playing at various spots in defence, was part of the squad at Euro 2004 and the 2006 World Cup but retired from internationals in 2007.
England boss Fabio Capello will name a provisional 30-man World Cup squad on Tuesday with Tottenham defender Ledley King also a ‘certainty’ before whittling it down to 23 players.
Fulham’s Bobby Zamora and Manchester City’s Adam Johnson will be in as well.
Striker Zamora has had an outstanding season with his club both domestically and in Europe as the Cottagers reached the Europa League final, while winger Johnson has blossomed since moving to City from Middlesbrough in the January transfer window.
