Atletico Madrid could be set to watch one of their star players depart, perhaps as soon as January, as Belgian winger Yannick Ferreira Carrasco is reportedly unhappy at the Spanish club, according to AS.
The winger has been a hugely important player for Los Rojiblancos, despite never having really established a permanent starting role under manager Diego Simeone. Since joining the Madrid based team in 2015 Carrasco has featured 107 times, scoring 22 goals. Perhaps his most memorable goal was the equaliser in the 2016 Champions League final, though Atleti ultimately went on to lose the game on penalties.
Despite his relatively successful period at the club the Belgium international has found it hard to settle and, according to AS, he has difficult relationships with some of the other players in the dressing room, particularly veteran captain Gabi. Combine this with a lack of consistent game time and it is little surprise that Carrasco wants out.
Both Chelsea and Manchester United have been linked with the winger in the past and with a €100m release clause it is not unrealistic to expect the Belgian to have moved on by the end of the season.
