According to BBC journalist David Ornstein, one of the most reliable sources when it comes to Arsenal, the efforts of the north London club to sign Yannick Carrasco from Dalian Yifang have failed, as is the case with Ivan Perišić of Inter Milan.
Manager Unai Emery has spoken a lot recently about potentially signing players “who can help the team”, and he hinted that signing a winger was one of their intentions. Various reports emerged first of negotiations with Inter over Perišić, then with Dalian Yifang over Carrasco, but it seems both moves have fallen through.
Ornstein claims that Carrasco was fine with moving to the Emirates, but the offer Arsenal had made was deemed far too low by the Chinese side. They have received a better one from another club, reportedly AC Milan.
Talks between Arsenal and Inter over Perišić were abandoned on Wednesday, for similar reasons. Arsenal’s offer of a loan with an option to buy was of no interest to Inter, even with a penalty set for not taking the option.
