Carrick set for one year extension

Jose Mourinho is ready to offer Michael Carrick a one-year extension to his Manchester United contract, according to the Express.

The thirty-five year old has been with the Red Devils since the summer of 2006 and has since racked up four hundred and twenty-eight appearances in all competitions, scoring twenty-four goals.

He has won a whole host of major honors with the club including five Premier League titles, three League Cups and the Champions League while he added an FA Cup winners medal to his collection back in May.

Internationally, he was capped thirty-four times for England and was part of the squads that attended both the 2006 World Cup finals in Germany and the tournament in South Africa four years later.

Carrick played as United drew 1-1 with rivals Arsenal on Saturday afternoon, a result which leaves them six points outside the Champions League qualifying places after twelve games played.
