Andy Carroll’s proposed move to West Ham United has moved a step closer with the England international set for a medical with the club tomorrow, the Independent understands.
The 24 year old, who is currently out of the country of holiday, missed England’s two recent friendly internationals with a heel injury, which could see him miss the opening of the forthcoming campaign.
Carroll was also side-lined for two months of last season whilst on loan with the Hammers, and it remains to be seen where his lack of fitness will have an effect on his medical.
Liverpool are keen for the deal to go through quickly as they prepare to spend big on a number of transfer targets.
Striker Iago Aspas is on the verge of completing a £7.7million move from Celta Vigo, while Sporting Lisbon defender Tiago Ilori and Sevilla midfielder Luis Alberto have also been heavily linked with a move to Anfield.
Sunderland goalkeeper Simon Mignolet and Shakthar Donetsk’s £20million rated forward Henrikh Mkhitaryan are also on the Reds radar, as manager Brendan Rodgers looks to build on last seasons seventh place finish.
