West Bromwich Albion keeper Scott Carson has vowed to fight his way back into England manager Fabio Capello’s squad after being dropped for the upcoming Euro 2012 qualifier with Montenegro.
Carson was picked for last month’s matches against Bulgaria and Switzerland but forced to withdraw following a family bereavement. However he missed out on selection for Tuesday’s Group G game at Wembley.
“I was really devastated to find myself out this time. Having got back in for the last squad, I thought I’d carried my form on in the last few games,” said Carson, who has been in superb form for the Baggies this season.
“Being forced to pull out last time was for personal reasons and things seem to have gone against me.”
Carson, however, said he is determined to bounce back from the disappointment and earn a recall.
“I won’t sulk. I have to keep performances up and get everyone talking about me again in a good way,” he said. “How I react to this is important. I will let my performances get me back in.”
Capello’s goalkeepers for next week’s match are Manchester City’s Joe Hart, Robert Green from West Ham and Birmingham’s Ben Foster.
