According to The Guardian, Manchester United are open to listening to offers for the services of Casemiro, Raphael Varane and Donny van de Beek, as well as outcast Jadon Sancho and soon-to-be out-of-contract Anthony Martial. However, manager Erik ten Hag wouldn’t allow any of the first three to leave if it means weakening his squad for the second half of the season, which means he will only sanction sales towards raising the funds for potential reinforcements.
Casemiro and Varane, both part of a highly successful Real Madrid side in the past, are expected to generate interest, though their age (31 and 30, respectively) and high wages (over £300,000 per week each) are though to represent potential obstacles.
Casemiro started the first eight Premier League matches this season, but he hasn’t played since through an injury only described as a “knock”. As for Varane, the French defender has lost his place in the team, with Ten Hag preferring Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof as the centre-back pair. As for Van de Beek, the Dutch midfielder hasn’t been a part of Ten Hag’s plans for a long time.
