According to AS, Iker Casillas has been in touch with Spain manager Luis Enrique to talk about a potential return to international football. The 37 year old veteran is supposedly happy to be a third choice goalkeeper, which is almost certainly the position he would fall into. Casillas has cooled off in recent years in terms of his ability to compete at the highest level, but the Porto keeper is still a top level player in the realms of European football.

The Spanish national team are coming off yet another relatively disappointing tournament in the 2018 FIFA World Cup. While Casillas may not seem like someone who is going to make much of a difference, his experience and wisdom that he’s gained throughout the years could prove to be invaluable.

Casillas has made well over 150 appearances for the Spanish national team since making his debut back in 2000, winning the World Cup and two European Championships in the process.
