(GSM) – Italy U21 manager Pierluigi Casiraghi has left the post by mutual consent after failing to guide the team into next year’s European Championship.
Italy have also surprisingly failed to qualify for the 2012 Olympics that will be held in London after they lost against Belarus.
And the Azzurrini manager and former Lazio striker has subsequently been shown the door after four years in charge of the Italian youngsters.
Former Italy manager Arrigo Sacchi will now have to choose a successor with former Lazio manager Davide Ballardini topping the list of candidates for the job.
Sacchi has been in charge of youth development at the federation since Italy’s disappointing 2010 World Cup showing alarmed the Italians for their lack of emerging talent.
