Catania general manager Pietro Lo Monaco has confirmed reports that Vincenzo Montella could join a big Italian club at the end of the season.
The former Roma forward has enjoyed a bright start to his coaching career at Stadio Angelo Massimino, having led the Elephants to eighth place in the Serie A standings.
Impressive results at Catania have seen Montella linked with a number of major Italian clubs such as Inter and Napoli, and Catania transfer guru Pietro Lo Monaco admits that the talented coach could leave at the end of the season.
“Montella has the DNA of a great Coach,” Pietro Lo Monaco told Radio Anch’io Lo Sport on Monday.
“He has another year left on his contract with us, but you can’t stop the wind…
“When there are strong signs that someone should move on then they are free to make their own decisions.”
Montella started his coaching career as a caretaker manager at Roma, but he was released by the Giallorossi chiefs in June 2011.
The 37-year-old signed a contract with Catania just few days later and has been an instant hit at Stadio Angelo Massimino.
After leading the Elephants to the top half of the Serie A standings, Montella is widely tipped to leave Catania for a bigger club in the summer.
