Catania deny Maxi Lopez interest

Catania club officials have announced that Maxi Lopez will remain at the club despite the reported interest from Fiorentina.

Former Barcelona striker, Maxi Lopez has been heavily linked with a move to Fiorentina, but Catania sporting director, Pietro Lo Monaco insists the move is out of question.

“Maxi Lopez is a Catania player and he’ll play for us for the entire season,” said the club’s sporting director.

“You need more than gossip, speculation and rumors to start transfer negotiations – you need money.

“Fiorentina sporting director Pantaleo Corvino has never contacted me so this matter ends here.”

The Argentine signed for the Seria A outfit last January after a short spell at Gremio and he proved to be quite a hit at Angelo Massimino, bagging 11 goals in 17 games.
