(GSM) – Catania have dismissed speculation that striker Maxi Lopez will be leaving amid rumours of interest from Juventus.
The 26-year-old, who has been in scintillating form since joining Catania in January, has had spells at clubs including River Plate, Barcelona, and Gremio.
Despite reports suggesting that Juve are looking to bring Lopez in to boost their attacking options, Catania appear adamant that they don’t have any intention of allowing him to move on.
“Let’s end this Maxi Lopez story, it’s just stupid,” director Pietro Lo Monaco said. “He is not moving away from Catania.
“He needs to just worry about doing well with us. Lopez has the qualities of a great footballer and he could play for a big team, but for now we are keeping him at Catania.”
Lopez is contracted to the club until 2014.
