The agent of Napoli star Edinson Cavani has rejected speculations that Atletico Madrid have made a move for his client.
Following yet another impressive start to the season, the Uruguayan striker is being linked with a host of top European clubs, with Atletico Madrid reportedly showing interest in Cavani as they search for Falcao’s replacement.
However, the player’s agent now reveals that los Colchoneros have not contacted him regarding the 25-year-old forward.
“If Atletico Madrid want to pay his €62m release fee then they can have their say, but there has been no contact and we don’t know if they want to buy him,” Pierpaolo Triulzi told Radio Marca.
“We don’t know what will happen in the future, but the player is very happy where he finds himself right now.
“There have been a lot of offers for him in the past, but Napoli didn’t want to let him go and got him to sign a contract extension instead.”
Cavani is widely regarded as one of the best centre forwards in world football and has been linked with just about any major club in Europe, but the Azzurri have so far managed to ward off interest in the player thanks to their high asking price.
The Uruguayan is not letting all the transfer talk get to him as he continues his incredible scoring form on both domestic and European stage.
In total, Cavani has scored 14 goals in 15 competitive fixtures this season, while also scoring 2 goals in 5 games for the national team.
