Uruguayan forward Edinson Cavani has added fuel to speculations linking him with a summer exit from San Paolo by refusing to commit his future to Napoli.
The highly rated forward has been repeatedly linked with a move to Chelsea and Il Corriere dello Sport claims the Blues scouts had the player watched in last night’s win over Novara.
Cavani scored the opener against Novara to help the Azzurri end five-match winless run in Serie A, but, speaking after the game, he failed to pledge his future to the San Paolo outfit.
“Will I stay at Napoli even if we don’t qualify for the Champions League? I don’t know, the club will deal with this sort of thing. I am focused only on playing my football and winning every game,” Cavani told Sky Sport Italia after the match.
“The club will think about the rest and they know what to do. For as long as I am at Napoli, I will continue to give my all for this team.”
While Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentiis is determined to keep hold of the Three Tenors, he may not be able to resist a big money offer that is likely to arrive in the summer.
Cavani will not come on the cheap, however, seeing that he proved his attacking prowess by bagging 20 goals in 31 Serie A games this season.
