Cazorla undergoes Arsenal medical; Bremen win race for De Bruyne

Spain international midfielder Santi Cazorla reportedly underwent a medical with Arsenal on Thursday, with the Gunners linked with a €21 million (£17 million) move for the Malaga ace, Sky Sports reports.

Financial troubles at Malaga CF have been well documented this summer. In short, the club owes money to its players and other clubs.

If Malaga cannot pay their debts by 18 August 2012, they could suffer relegation and lose their UEFA Champions League spot.

As a result, Los Boquerones may be forced to sell Cazorla for significantly less than his €45 million release clause.

“We know the difficult situation they are in,” revealed vice-captain Weligton. “We are about to close the sale of one player (Cazorla) and with this money part of the problem that we have can be solved.

“We are in an awkward situation. Everyone expected more signings, more surprises, to continue being the team in fashion.

“But, for certain reasons, including many we don’t know, the chairman has now stopped investing money. We are living in a delicate moment, but there are great players here and a good bond between them.”

The Andalusian outfit spent a whopping €50 million last summer, including €21 million to sign Cazorla from Villarreal, but have put the brakes on investment in the 2012 summer transfer window.

Cazorla started all 38 league matches for Malaga last term, tallying nine goals and five assists.

Bremen win race for De Bruyne

According to Sky Sports, Werder Bremen have won the race for Chelsea starlet Kevin de Bruyne after completing a season-long loan for the 20-year-old Belgian midfielder.

De Brunye will ironically replace Chelsea newboy Marko Marin on the left-flank for Die Werderaner in 2012-13. Marin joined the European champions for a transfer fee of £7 million earlier this summer.

“We have Kevin for several months,” Werder Bremen general manager Klaus Allofs told the club’s official website. “We are glad that we can increase the quality in our squad with this commitment.”

In other news, Chelsea are attempting to pry Victor Moses away from Wigan Athletic for a fee of £7.5 million, with the Latics reportedly holding out for £10 million.

Moses has just one year left on his current deal, but Wigan would be owed compensation should he depart the DW Stadium next summer due to the fact that he is under 24.

The former Crystal Palace winger bagged six goals and one assist in 38 Premier League appearances for Wigan in 2011-12.
