(GSM) – Celitc coach Neil Lennon fears he might lose Aiden McGeady before the close of the transfer window.

The Irish winger has been linked with several clubs from the English Premier League and his omission from Celtic’s tour to North America has fuelled speculation about his future.

Lennon insists the winger is not involved in the trip due to injury, but is aware of McGeady’s wish to look further than Celtic Park.

“Aiden hasn’t said to me he wants to leave in so many words,” said Lennon in the Daily Record. “But that vibe came from his side of things.

“I know there are conspiracy theories, but it is a genuine injury. He picked it up in a bounce game on Saturday behind closed doors. He came off and was feeling sore.

“We left it until Sunday to see if it settled, and it didn’t, so we felt that if we were looking at 10 days, the travelling would make it worse.

“He had a scan on Monday, but it was pointless bringing him here if he wasn’t going to train and play.”
