Celtic starlet Virgil van Dijk has moved to suggest that he would be delighted to join Premier League giants Arsenal one day in the future.
It is no secret the Gunners are on the lookout for a new central defender with the Dutch footballer reportedly high on their wish list.
Arsene Wenger could be making a bid as early as January and the 23-year-old admits he is flattered to be linked with such a great club.
“Arsenal are an amazing club,” he told Sky Sports. “It’s a big club with a great history. I’m happy here just now and I want to play well and we’ll see what happens in the future.
“Until there are bids I can’t say a thing. There is no rush to leave but you never know in the future.”
It is believed that Celtic will not stand in the defender’s way in case of a good offer, and they are reportedly holding out for £15 million.
Virgil van Dijk joined the Bhoys last summer from Groningen and he largely impressed during his first season at the club.
The talented centre-back has so far made 43 Scottish Premier League appearances for Celtic, while featuring in another 14 Champions League matches.
