Celtic are interested in signing Ivan Toney from Peterborough United in the summer transfer window, according to STV journalist Raman Bhardwaj. The respected journalist has claimed that the Hoops’ interest in the former Newcastle United striker “remains strong”.
It has also been claimed that the Glasgow giants, who will be looking to make it 10 Scottish Premiership titles in a row this season, had a bid for Toney turned down by the League One club in England last month.
The 24-year-old striker is one of the best in his position in the lower leagues in England and was brilliant for Peterborough this past season. The Englishman scored 24 goals and provided five assists in League One.
Odsonne Edouard and Leigh Griffiths are the two main strikers at Celtic, and a player of Toney’s quality and goalscorer prowess would make the Hoops even more potent and would enhance their chances of winning the league title in 2020-21.
