Scottish giants Celtic are set to appoint caretaker boss Neil Lennon as their new manager on Wednesday, according to reports.

The Glasgow club has called a press conference for 1000GMT at Celtic Park when they will unveil their permanent replacement for Tony Mowbray, who was sacked in March.

Lennon, 38, took charge of first team affairs following Mowbray’s dismissal and won all eight of his league matches, although his side were knocked out of the Scottish Cup semi-finals by First Division Ross County.

It is believed Stuart Baxter will be appointed to assist Lennon in an advisory capacity, while retaining his position as Finland head coach.

Lennon has lined up former team-mates Johan Mjallby, Alan Thompson and Garry Parker for his backroom staff.

Former Celtic captain Lennon, who won five league titles as a player with the Hoops, had been reserve team coach at the club until Mowbray’s departure.
