Celtic signed Republic of Ireland striker Daryl Murphy from Sunderland on Friday.
Murphy has joined the Scottish club for a fee reported to be around 1.5 million pounds after putting pen to paper on a three-year contract.
The 27-year-old, who has nine caps for Ireland, is Celtic manager Neil Lennon’s fourth close-season signing after his swoops for Charlie Mulgrew, Joe Ledley and South Korea’s Cha Du-Ri.
“Celtic are delighted to announce the signing of striker Daryl Murphy, who joins the club from Sunderland on a three-year deal,” a statement on the club’s website read.
Murphy began his career with Irish club Waterford United before joining Sunderland in 2005. He has also had loan spells at Sheffield Wednesday and Ipswich.
