Celtic defender Virgil van Dijk is expected to join a top English Premier League club in the summer, according to his official representative.
Despite only joining the Bhoys from Groningen last summer, the talented defender has already done enough to catch the eye of England’s top clubs.
The Manchester rivals are believed to be leading the chase at the moment, and the player’s agent admits van Dijk could be leaving Parkhead at the end of the current campaign.
“There is certainly interest. Many English clubs are interested in him – the absolute top clubs,” agent Henk-Maarten Chin confessed to The Scotsman.
“They watch him and are very keen. There has been no official approaches for Virgil yet, but that will come after the season ends.
“There’s certainly far more interest in him than we could have dreamed of. I expect something will happen for him this summer – the intention would be for him to earn a top transfer.”
Virgil van Dijk started his career at Groningen and went on to make 62 Eredivisie appearances before moving to Celtic last summer.
He has since impressed at Parkhead, scoring 4 goals in 27 league outings, while also producing very good displays during club’s Champions League campaign.
And with his stock rising a great deal over the last six months, Celtic face a real battle on their hands in an attempt to keep hold of their prized asset.
