(GSM) – Celtic striker Morten Rasmussen has joined German club Mainz 05 on a season-long loan deal.
The 25-year-old, who joined Celtic from Brondby in a £1 million deal in January, has made the move after being unable to impose himself on the first team.
He did not make Celtic’s squad to face Braga in the Champions League and has been deemed surplus to requirements despite an injury sustained by fellow forward Gary Hooper.
Rasmussen has already been training with his Mainz team-mates and be in contention to play at the weekend when they begin their Bundesliga campaign with a home game against Stuttgart.
Mainz coach Christian Heidel said: “Morten can give us a strong presence in the penalty area.”
