Cercle Brugge are close to a spot in the final of the Belgian Cup, following a 2-1 win over KV Mechelen in the first leg of the semi finals.
All goals were scored in the last half hour, with Cercle’s Honour Gombani breaking the deadlock on 61 minutes. Stijn de Smet went on to double the lead 14 minutes later.
Bjorn Vleminckx got one back in the 82nd minute, allowing Mechelen to hope for a positive outcome in the second leg, which isn’t to be played until April 22nd.
In the other semi final, played on Tuesday, KRC Genk and Lierse SK drew 2-2.
