Competition: MLS
Market: CF Montreal win
Odds: 10/11 @ 888sport
Looking to extend on what has been a stellar purple patch on home soil, Montreal will welcome Toronto to the Saputo Stadium in the early hours of Saturday.
Starting with the hosts, while Montreal might have had to settle for a point against Philadelphia Union last weekend, Wilfried Nancy’s men put in a largely rugged display on the road. Despite enduring an extended blip, The Blacks still find themselves sat in pole position to land another Final Series spot and they will be excited to make a return to the Saputo Stadium on Saturday. Last seen on home soil picking up a deserved 2-1 win against the New York Red Bulls, the Quebec-based outfit have bagged 13 points from just their last five MLS contests at home. With their recent hometown purple patch highlighted by that stunning 5-4 victory against Cincinnati on July 18th, Montreal have also impressed with their display’s in the final third. Looking to shore up their spot in the top-seven, Saturday’s host should be smelling a chance here.
As for the visitors, putting in what was another nightmare display last weekend, it is no secret that Toronto are enduring a dreadful run of form. Eventually hit with a 3-1 drumming away at Inter Miami, Javier Pérez’s struggling squad have drastically failed to build off of their silver medal finish in the Eastern Conference last season. Only coming under more scrutiny and rooted firmly to the foot of the table, The Reds have managed to collect just a pair of points from their last six MLS matchups, a run that stems back to July 25th. Gaining a reputation for their rather glaring problems at the back, Toronto have also lost each of their last three away fixtures on the spin. Hit with an action-packed 4-2 defeat when they made the trip to the Saputo Stadium back in April, we’re backing a similar home win here.
