(GSM) – Cha Du-Ri wants to see Freddie Ljungberg join him at Scottish heavyweights Celtic, admitting that he is an admirer of the Swedish midfielder’s underwear and football talents.
Hoops boss Neil Lennon has set his sights on signing Ljungberg and is set to meet the former Arsenal midfielder on Monday.
Cha Du-Ri said: “Freddie Ljungberg is a very famous player and I like his underwear. I have a lot of Calvin Klein underwear at home, maybe I’ll show him. Seriously, he’s a good player and if he comes to us then I think he can help us. It’s great for us.”
Cha and Ki now fly out on Asian Cup duty in Qatar which could see them absent from Parkhead for most of January. Cha is hoping that his team would have topped the Scottish Premier League table when he returns from international duty.
“I hope Celtic can be top of the league for me and Ki coming back from the Asian Cup,” he said. “We have a lot of players both in my position and Ki’s position so I’m not worried. I’m sure they can play well without us.”
And Ljungberg is already anticipating Sunday’s Old Firm derby after arriving in Glasgow to link up with Celtic.
Ljungberg told the Daily Record: “I’ve seen the Old Firm derby on television and I’ve had friends who have been over to the games. They have said some amazing things about the fixture so of course I would like to play in it.
“I’m available to play for any club on January 1 so we’ll see what happens. I’m as fit as I’ve been for a long time since I had surgery on my hip two years ago.”
While Ljungberg is sure to grab all the headlines if he completes the move to Celtic, Lennon is hoping a player already at Parkhead will make his mark in the forthcoming weeks.
Meanwhile Lennon is glad to have seen former Wigan midfielder Olivier Kapo finally make his debut as a second-half substitute against St. Johnstone.
“We have him on a short-term contract but he has been injured,” Lennon said. “He went away to France with the injury and came back and has worked very hard and looked sharp in training and we thought it might be an opportunity to give him some game time.
“You never know, we might have unearthed a player. He is here until the end of January and we will see how he goes in the next three or four weeks.”
