As announced by the club, Arsenal defender Calum Chambers has signed a contract extension that will keep him at the Emirates for the coming season and perhaps beyond. The Gunners have been placing a heavy focus on fixing their defensive issues since Unai Emery became the club’s new manager, and while bringing in new faces is always important, tying Chambers down to a longer contract could be of equal importance.
He may not have developed into the world beater everyone was expecting him to be just yet, but the 23-year-old has still managed to impress enough to the point where the Spaniard feels like he can be a valuable member of the squad moving forward.
It’s interesting to see that Emery has put such a big focus on sorting out the current squad’s respective situations, as it proves that he’s not interested in separating himself too much from the original crop of players that were at the club when he arrived.
