Chelsea will face rivals Manchester United after the Champions League quarter-final draw pitted the English Premier League clubs together.
Carlo Ancelotti’s side beat United 2-1 earlier this month in the league, and they will once again do battle when the Champions League’s semi-finals get underway in April.
The English Premier League champions will host Sir Alex Ferguson’s United in the opening leg of their clash before the return match at Old Trafford, with the winner of the tie to progress to a semi-final playoff against either Inter Milan or Schalke.
In the other quarter-final matches, Tottenham Hotspur were drawn to take on Jose Mourinho’s Real Madrid, Barcelona will face Shakhtar Donetsk and reigning champions Inter Milan will play Schalke 04.
Tottenham will travel to the Bernabeu for their opening quarter-final leg but will charge home with a wet sail when they welcome Real to White Hart Lane for the return, aiming to book a semi-final clash with either another Spanish team in Barcelona or Shakhtar Donetsk.
Barca kick off their final eight playoff against their Ukrainian opponents at home, while the San Siro will be the venue for the opening leg between Inter and Bundesliga outfit Schalke 04.
The quarter-finals will take place across April 5-6 and April 12-13, with the semi-finals to get underway two weeks later. The final will be played at Wembley in London on May 28.
